First measure the general thickness of the test sample with a steel ruler. For example, the test sample is about 56 mm thick. Use a steel ruler to measure the distance between the bottom plate of the gage and the platen to 50 mm. This value is the initial distance and then The moving beam of the gage is tightened, gently lift the platen of the gage, place the test sample between the bottom plate and the platen, gently lower the platen to make contact with the sample, and wait for the dial gauge reading The reading after stabilization is accurate to 0.1mm. If the reading is 6.1mm, the true thickness of the sample is the initial distance of 50mm and the measured thickness is 6.1mm = 56.1mm.
Note: When using the steel ruler and thickness gauge to determine the initial thickness of the test sample, take the integer value closest to the sample. The measured value should not exceed 10mm. For example, the sample to be tested is about 20~30mm, the initial distance is set to 20mm, and the initial distance is 50mm when it is 50~60mm. For the same reason, the initial distance is up to 150mm.
